Color Club Summer 2012 Preview

I was browsing my fave online polish-pusher yesterday, and noticed this:

(Picture from Nailsupplies.us)

I have to have these!!!!Living where I live I'm sick to death with drab, dreary, 5C weather, so bright summer polishes is just what the doctor ordered.

I'm going away this weekend for my granddad's burial, but hopefully these will be waiting for me when I return :-)

I think my personal forerunners are the green (quelle surprise), magenta and teal. Which one do you prefer?

Color Club magnetics ~ Sci-Fi

Second of the lot. Didn't remember to get a bottleshot, but I do have a picture of the first coat (sans magnet)

Really pretty golden/olive with some golden shimmer. Heck, I'd wear this one alone (though I'd add a second coat).

And with the second coat and magnet applied.

So sorry about grody papercut on pinkie btw. And practice really does help with these. I didn't get polish stuck on the magnet once with this one. Where the magnet really only darkened Hipnotic, here it draws some wonderful golden glitter/shimmer/flakes to the top. You can somewhat see it in the last shot. (All the other attempts of getting a good picture of it sort of failed miserably). I really wish there would be some sun today, cause I have a feeling this would benefit greatly, but it's still really gorgeous.

I have also ordered the China Glaze Magnetix. Sadly the magnet is STILL out of stock, so I'll have to live with this one. But I can hardly wait!!!

Color Club magnetics ~ Hipnotic

I have now finally tried magnetic nailpolish for the very first time, and I love it! Sadly all the China Glaze ones, plus their magnet was sold out when I ordered but I got Color Club's collection instead. So here is the first if the five polishes:

This is two coats, and application was great. The magnet sits on top of the cap and the cap is detachable for ease of use. All the polishes have the same magnet pattern, classical wave style, so I definitely will get the China Glaze magnet when it returns to stock and pay day rolls around ;-) The magnet isn't hard to use at all, but I do see it will need a bit of practice getting it really even etc. The base color is an absolutely gorgeous dark raspberry pink. There is quite a lot of silver shimmer visible in the bottle, but I couldn't really see any of it on the nail. Possibly if you didn't use the magnet it might show up.

Over all I really liked the color of this one, and I am so looking forward to trying the other four polishes I got. Though I do see from this promo pic (from Nailsupplies) that there is one I'm missing (Steel of the night).

Any preferences as to next swatch?

Essie ~ Wild thing and Color Club ~ Platinum record

Here's another random Essie (I do love the half price for Essie when signed in at Nailsupplies). This time Wild thing.

Dark raspberry shimmer with sparse holo glitter. I kept the really blurry one to show off these little (almost) hidden gems a bit better. Consistency was really runny and dry time was long, so it'll probably stay in a drawer for a while, but it really is pretty.

Due to the longish dry time I managed to completely mangle both my thumbs. So instead of re-applying the same one I wanted to try out Platinum record from Color Club.

For some reason I keep calling this one Platinum pieces, probably as that's what it looks like. It's really sparkly large silver hex pieces with some smaller silver and grey glitters inbetween. I do think it probably will look a lot better layered over a black or similar.

And for the full hand

So, what do you think?

Color Club ~ Wicked sweet

This is one of the scented polishes Color Club released last summer.

The colour is awesome. Aqua blue with a slight golden shimmer. Very pretty. I was very curious about the scent. It smells of fake bubblegum/tutti frutti to me. Perhaps it should be renamed sickly sweet? I really want to try one of the lime or lemon scented ones, but as for this one, nomatter how pretty a clour I think it may get donated to someone a lot younger than me. Around 5 or so...

Have you tried scented polishes? What di you think of the whole concept?

Color Club ~ Revvvolution

Yay! I've had a pretty big lemming on this one ever since seeing pictures of it. It's goooooorgeous. So with no further ado:

Nice, mottled grey. Sweet and demure. Yeah right. With sunlight (or any direct light) Prepare for picture overload:

I found it very hard to capture completely, but the second you put some light on it, it gives you a gorgeous, rainbow holo. It's not a llinear holo, but nor is it a regular holo glitter either. It's absolutely lovely, and I've caught myself sitting admiring my nails in all sorts of lights. I think i'm in love.

Do you have any lemmings? Care to share :-)?

Color Club ~ Holiday splendour

And finally the last of the three glitters I got from Beyond the mistletoe. I really hope the last three get back in stock soon so I can get them before christmas.

One coat:

Two coats:

Small holo glitters in a green jelly-ish base. I know it looks blue/turquois-ish in the pictures, and I've tried to search the net for more colour accurate shots, but it seems they all come out like this. Trust me, it's green green, not blue green. Nice enough polish, but I personally prefer the other two. Which one is your favourite?

Color Club ~ Jingle Jangle

This is the second of the glitters from Beyond the mistletoe. The namesake can be found here. The third, and last one I got will come tomorrow (Holiday splendor). I tried getting the last three polishes too, but so far they're sold out at nailsupplies :-(

One coat:

Two coats:

And finally three coats:

This is without topcoat as I didn't plan on wearing it, (more pretties to swatch and show you all :-) ) but it would definately need a topcoat if you were to wear it as a full mani. Dried very fast, but slightly gritty. Clear base with small pink and blue glitters. Can't see any holo in this one, but it's awesome nevertheless. Probably easiest to use as a layering polish, but it's almost opaque in three layers. Any suggestions on what to layer it over?

Color club ~ Jewel of a girl

This is from last years fall collection, Untamed Luxury.

Gorgeous! Dark wine red/brown shimmer. Makes me want to curl up with a glass of red wine and a bowl of chocolate truffles. Two coats. Application was a dream and the drying time was decent.

Color Club ~ Beyond the mistletoe

This is the namesake from the Color Club collection Beyond the mistletoe. It doesn't say outright anywhere, but due to the name and awesome bling-factor I assume this is atleast part of the holiday release(s). And is it ever sparkly. They are actually so sparkly I had major problems getting them properly focused. (Okay, I was sloppy. Don't tell anyone ;-) )

One coat:

Two coats:

Three coats:

And for extra glitter goodness, one shot (purposely this time):

The base is a pale baby blue and it's absolutely packed with small holo glitter. Seriously, this is the stuff Edward Cullen's skin is made of. And, in contrast to the Twilight movies, this one is truly awesome!

Application was good, dry time was fast. Even with one coat of Seche vite it's pretty gritty, so for the not so patience-challenged among us a thicker topcoat is probably better.

I absolutely recommend you get this one. It's party on a bottle, and for $3,- it really is a no-brainer :-)

Color club ~ Foiled metallics swatches

And here they are in their full beauty. And oh my are they beauties. All of these are two coats, no topcoat except for Perfect Mol-ten. Behold:

Cold metal:

Medium denim blue. Daylight but sadly a mean cloud in front of the sun. These are truly jam packed with a fine silver glitter. you can see the "silver veins" in the bottle, and I was a bit worried about even application due to this, but it was not an issue at all. All in my imagination. Great colour, one of my top three.

Hot like lava:

Deep, medium pink. And by deep I don't really mean dark, but very saturated. This is definately not a barbie-pink. Cerise? It's pretty no matter what you decide to call it, that's for sure.

Lumin-icecent:

This was one of the colours I'd looked forward to the most. True icy blue. a light version of the blue you can see deep down in a glacier crevice. I won't say i was directly disappointed with this, but I had hoped it would pack a bit more of a punch. As it is it's more silvery-blue than icy-blue. But still a very pretty polish, and I shall cherish it for a long long time.

Foil me once:

Second pink of the collection. This is a lighter pink than Hot like lava. More pure "barbie" pink. I'm going to try this one as a stamping polish, but I can't really see myself wearing it as a regular mani. Nothing wrong with the polish, just not my cup of tea.

Antiquated:

Champage-pink foil. Very neutral and nice colour. Another one that doesn't necessarily scream "wear me" to me, but I can see this as a nice office polish without being too drab, and also I think it'll have a nice potential for stamping.

Perfect mol-ten:

This has a layer of Seche vite on top, as I decided this colour is so gorgeous I have to wear it as a full mani for a day atleast. Really stunning. I'm desperately trying to accurately describe this one, but I'm not sure I have the words. It's a bit like China Glaze Cherish, only less yellow, more silver and foil instead og frost. This was the one I wanted the most, and it did definately not disappoint! My favourite of the collection.

So to sum up. 4 awesome polishes and 2 ok. Great formula, good dry time. And at 3 bucks a pop I absolutely recommend everyone to get these. Are you getting any? All? Any obvious favourites?
